Mr. Larsen joined Cartier Iron as a Chief Executive Officer and a Director on September 24, 2014. Mr. Larsen has over 30 years of experience in the investment industry, specializing in corporate finance and management of junior mining companies, raising in excess of C$150 million to date. Most recently, Mr. Larsen held the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of Champion Iron Limited, an appointment which he assumed on the completion of the merger of Australian-based Mamba Minerals Ltd. and TSX-listed Champion Iron Mines Limited to continue as Champion Iron Limited effective April 1, 2014. Prior to that merger he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Champion Iron Mines Limited, now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Champion Iron Limited. During that tenure he transformed the company from an unlisted junior in 2006 to a TSX-listed iron ore exploration and development company with a highly prospective iron property portfolio, including the flagship Consolidated Fire Lake North project, which is currently pursuing the completion of a Feasibility Study.
Michel G. Gagnon joined Cartier Iron as an independent director on October 23, 2014. Mr. Gagnon is an innovative and highly accomplished executive with over 25 years of business and management experience in his native province of Quebéc. In 2012, Mr. Gagnon was awarded “CFO of the year” in the private corporation category by the Quebéc chapter of Financial Executives International Canada, an all-industry professional association for senior financial executives. Mr. Gagnon is an executive currently developing a large energy project in Quebéc. He is also a Board member of a marine transportation company as well as one in the metals industry. Prior to November 2012, Mr. Gagnon was employed for 20 years by Sept-îles-based Aluminiere Alouette Inc., reaching the position of Vice President, Finance and Business Development and Corporate Secretary. During his tenure at Aluminiere Alouette, Mr. Gagnon oversaw many major projects, including the expansion of its Sept-îles facility, which stands as one of the largest private construction projects ever in Quebéc, and it remains a world benchmark in the building and commissioning of aluminium plants. Under his guidance the company became one of the highest performing and most respected aluminium companies in the world.
Mr. Langton joined Cartier Iron’s Board of Directors in July, 2011. Mr. Langton is a professional geologist with over 27 years of experience in various capacities, and is a co-owner of MRB & Associates, a geological consulting firm based in Val-d’Or, Québec. Over the course of his career, Mr. Langton has been involved with academic investigations and mineral exploration programs for precious- and base-metals, and industrial minerals. Over the past 5 years, Mr. Langton has gained extensive experience identifying and outlining iron resources in the Labrador Trough. Mr. Langton was recently appointed as Cartier Iron’s Vice President, Exploration in December 2012. Mr. Langton obtained his B.Sc. (Geology) from the University of New Brunswick in 1985 and his M.Sc.(Geology) from Queen’s University in 1993.
Mr. Lawler joined Cartier Iron as an independent director on June 30, 2014. He is a leading Australian mergers and acquisitions lawyer who has been involved in some of Australia’s most notable merger and acquisition transactions. Mr. Lawler has over 30 years’ experience as a practising corporate lawyer and was a senior partner at the legal firm Ashurst Australia until July 1, 2014 and continues to be a consultant to Ashurst Australia. Mr. Lawler was also previously a director of Riversdale Mining Limited and Dominion Mining Limited. Mr Lawler is currently a director of Riversdale Resources Limited and a director of Cartier Iron’s partner Champion Iron Limited (ASX: CIA, TSX: CIA), an iron-ore exploration and development company.
Harry Burgess joined Cartier Iron as an independent director on June 30, 2015, having previously served on Boards and Technical Advisory Committees for public resource companies. Mr. Burgess was a co-founder of Micon International Limited, in 1988 and now continues, on a part-time basis, as an Associate Consultant. Mr. Burgess has been engaged in consulting since 1980, when he joined the staff of David S. Robertson & Associates. During this period, he managed and contributed to many and varied mining projects throughout the world. Prior to that time, he gained experience in senior positions in the copper industry of Zambia and gold mining in South Africa. In Zambia, he held management positions with both technical and production responsibility. in South Africa, he was responsible for the introduction of mechanized mining systems to the gold mines of Anglo-American Corporation in the Orange Free State. Mr. Burgess is also a director of GPM Metals Inc., Tartisan Resources Corp. and ACME Resources Corp.
Francis Sauve re-joined Cartier Iron as an independent director on June 30, 2014. Mr. Sauve is a former director of Cartier Iron (from 1999 to 2012) and of Champion Iron Mines Limited (from 2007 to 2014). Mr. Sauve is an entrepreneur based in south-western Ontario and has over 20 years of in-depth exposure to publicly traded resource corporations as a director and investor. Mr. Sauve is also a director of Eloro Resources Ltd.
Alexander Horvath is the President of A.S. Horvath Engineering Inc. and brings over 28 years of experience in mineral exploration and mining to Cartier Iron. Mr. Horvath was Champion Iron Limited’s Chief Operating Officer from 2014 until 2017, having joined Champion’s subsidiary as a director in 2007 as as Executive Vice President, Exploration in 2008.
